I'm working so hard you wouldn't believe it

1. What made you smile today? Lindsay was trying to make a snowflake and couldn't remember how, so she googled it. That amused me.
2. What were you doing at 8 this morning? Arriving at work.
3. What were you doing 15 minutes ago? Making a UPS package.
4. What is something that happened to you in 1995? Umm...I must've been thirteen, so surely some terrible middle school drama happened and I'm sure I cried...a lot.
5. What is the last thing you said out loud? "What about a candy cane? Would that work?" I am obviously working very hard, as is the coworker to whom I was speaking. We are so professional.
6. How many different things did you drink today? 2-water and a Coke. Once I go home I can add Kool-Aid to that list.
7. What color is your toothbrush? White and blue
8. What was the last thing you bought? A gift card holder at the dollar store (it wasn't the actual Dollar Store, so I intentionally did not capitalize that, but I don't remember what it was called) so I could be finished with my work present for our party tomorrow. I am so creative it's astounding.
9. What was the last gift you received for your birthday? Ummm...my birthday was in February, which was a long time ago. The only thing I specifically remember getting is earrings.
10. What color is your front door? Dark red, because I'm a harlot.
11. Where do you keep your change? In my change purse.
12. What is the weather like today? Sunny and disturbingly warm for mid-December.
13. What is the best ice-cream flavor? I really like chocolate chip, whether it is vanilla or chocolate ice cream doesn't matter, as long as it crunches.
14. What is something you are excited about? Christmas-I love giving presents and it's a really good excuse
15. When was the last rainbow you saw? Maybe two weeks ago
16. What size shoe do you wear? 7.5
17. Do you have a sister? I have a Rachel, who is awesome and gave me my first pair of jeans that actually fit me, as opposed to the Chic jeans my mom bought me. My brothers and I were so happy when that place went away. The good jeans were from Express and I still have them.
18. Are you very random? Often
19. Do you want to cut your hair? No! I just realized I have been growing it out for just over two years now. I am not messing with it.
20. Are you over the age of 25? Not just yet.
21. Do you talk a lot? Sometimes.
22. Do you watch The OC? No, i used to try, but I hated Mischa Barton's character so much that I couldn't. I thought about starting to watch it again when they killed her off, but I don't think it's worth it. It's a dumb show
23. Does your screen name have an 'x' in it? No
24. Do you know anyone called Steve? Yes and he faxes things to me every week and we send him UPS packages twice a week at least. Yay Steve!
25. Do you make up your own words? I have been known to do that occasionally.
26. Are you ticklish? Yes
27. Are you typically a jealous person? Nah.
28. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter 'A': Amanda! Who I will be seeing tonight.
29. Name a friend whose name starts with the letter 'J'. Jennie! I will also be seeing her tonight.
30. Who is the 4th person on your missed call list? Shannon.
31. What did the last text message you received say? "no, u r 24" It was in response to something stupid I said which also involved using the the letter u instead of the word you. I did it on purpose because it's so dumb. I know, I suck.
32. Do you chew on your straws? Nah.
33. Do you have curly hair? No.
34. What is the next concert you're going to? I don't know. I'm not big on concerts. I went to Mark's Christmas concert, but I don't think that's what they mean by concert.
35. Who is the coolest person in your life? Most of you are totally cool in your own ways.
36. What is something you say a lot? Sure
37. What is the last thing you ate? Soup
38. Have you seen the movie 'Donnie Darko'? Yeah, a long time ago.
39. Do you have work tomorrow? Yes, but we're having our Christmas party, so it should be a fun day.
40. Is marriage in your future? Possibly
41. When was the last time you said 'I love you' and meant it? Yesterday. But I always mean it. If I didn't love someone, I would not be telling them that I did. That's not cool.
42. What should you be doing right now? Probably something work-related.
43. Do you have a nickname? Not really. Which is strange, since Andrea lends itself to several nicknames.
44. Do you believe in love at first sight? Seems unlikely.
45. Are you a heavy sleeper? No.
46. When was the last time you used a skateboard? Many years ago.
47. What is the best movie you've seen in the past two weeks? Yeah, I haven't seen any good movies in the past two weeks. I watched Pulse, which sucked. And I watched An American Haunting and Stay Alive, which were both better than Pulse, but not good. I didn't really expect them to be though, so that's ok. I totally figured out why the girl was acting crazy pretty early in An American Haunting and I thought I knew Frankie Muniz would die in Stay Alive, but SPOILER, he didn't. Not that I really hate him or anything.
48. What kind of mobile phone do you have? Sony-Ericsson
49. What are you listening to right now? The hum of the copy machine.
50. Are you currently depressed? No.

24. Do you dip tobacco?
No

25. Have you ever skinny dipped?
No...wow I don't seem much like a Kentucky girl, huh?

Ahhh

I'm beginning to think there's something amiss with my limbs. Yesterday my entire hand went numb while I was drying my hair and then while I was standing in line at the post office, my left leg went numb from the knee down. It's quite strange. I guess better than when I was taking Topamax and my fingers and toes would tingle all the time, though. Anyway, this weekend is Zoe's baptism, so that should be fun. And the weekend after this, I get to stay home! For the first weekend since the beginning of November. Not that I didn't want to go to the places and do the things I did. It will just be nice to chill a little before Christmas. Last night, Shannon and I watched a stupid horror movie. For future reference, Pulse sucks. It tried to like, teach us a lesson or something. That's not what I want in my horror movies. Although it was not a gross horror movie, as so many are now. I liked that about it.
I was supposed to have jury duty today, but they called and said I don't have to go although I will be on call through February. They said I probably won't have to serve at all, but if I do, it won't be until February. So that's cool, because I've been really busy at work lately and didn't want to miss today because I have things to do. Which I will go do right now.

Happy Thanksgiving

We get to leave work in a few minutes. I guess I'll go to the store and see if I can find some books. I only have two books to get me through 3 days right now. That just won't work. It seems that at family functions Dave and Rachel aren't at, I don't pay attention to the people. Hmm. My dad called me earlier and said he's getting his new van today, so we can take that instead of the stupid Taurus. But apparently my mom is sick so we might not go to O'boro until tomorrow morning instead of this afternoon. Which is ok with me because that way I can chill and sleep in my own bed and hang with my cats. There are more people than we originally thought at my grandma's house, so I think I get a couch. But my dad said he would sleep on an air mattress and I could have his bed. Which I would never do to him, but that's so sweet that he wants to do that. He said it seems to help my migraines when I sleep well. I guess that could be true. You'd think I could've figured out my triggers in the past three or four years. I think it could just be the stress of family gatherings and close quarters that disturbs my sleep and or causes migraines at the holidays. As Shannon told me yesterday, "Giblet gravy and family tensions, yum!" Or something like that. Sorry, Shannon I don't remember your exact words that came after the family tensions part, but I quoted you anyway. Cause I can. Anyway, happy Thanksgiving to all!

play it safe

I bought a new cd recently and one of the songs is called Boys Don't Cry. While I disagree with the title, I really love the song.

So what would you say to me
if you could talk to me?
You could ask anything
I wouldn't lie
but you're ok with this
damaging awkwardness
so I'll just play it safe
and keep it inside
'cause boys don't cry

That is how I am with most of the people in my life. I am so scared that I can't start anything. Now, I have always fought with my mother and Mark, and I don't know what it is about them that I can yell at them. But anyway, with pretty much everyone else, I will just wait and wait. Love was generally conditional at our house, so I have always been so afraid to have people be mad at me. I always thought one fight would end a friendship. Now I know better.

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? i'm not really sure, but i think i was maybe 7 or 8-i remember dave and i woke up so early that the adults were still putting our stuff together downstairs(my grandpa and my dad generally didn't start until like midnight or 1, though), so we snuck back up to bed (dave probably already knew when this happened, but i had not known, because he wasn't a crappy brother who told me just to be mean)
9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? our family has done that the past several christmases, but we never used to
10. How do you decorate your Christmas Tree? i don't have one, but my parents got a new one last year, so i convinced my dad to get new ornaments (their glass ball ornaments were older than us kids and all scratched and crappy) and then we didn't use as many of our homemade ornaments either

21. Fave Christmas Movie? i don't know, maybe it's a wonderful life?

Sleepy

I had to pick up my poor father at the hospital this morning. He was having a procedure, but my mom totally just dropped him off there at 6 this morning and then they called me when it was over and then again after they woke him up. The problem is, they put him to sleep and tried to do it and all, but couldn't so now he has to reschedule and do it all over again. And he was so pathetic after I got him home that I felt really bad about going back to work, especially after they made me sign that paper that said I would be responsible for him for the next 24 hours and wouldn't let him make any important business or personal decisions. Which I don't think he is, because he fell asleep twice before I even left and I called him about an hour ago and he said he was still in the same place-he hadn't even moved since I left him there at 11. I totally haven't seen him much lately, but he calls to check in with me every few days. He's such a good dad.

I read an excellent book the other day. The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picault, in case you care to read it. I've liked everything I've ever read by her, but this was a little different. And it had a little puzzle in it! I bought it Saturday night because my friends and I are so exciting that while we were waiting for a table at Outback, we went to Sam's Club and wandered around. And I found some books! Also, some pillows, but I didn't buy them. I did have a Wallaby Darned once we finally got our table at Outback and by the way, it is a very good drink even though it sounds silly.

Also, I totally can't believe that even though in my last post I mentioned both Canada and Jeopardy, I didn't mention that Alex Trebek is Canadian!

Celebrities and Canada

Celebrity Jeopardy starts today. I don't usually watch game shows, but if I do, Jeopardy would be my pick. And they have the girl from Law and Order: CI (Kathryn Erbe) and the dude from SVU (Chris Meloni) and also Bebe Neuwirth. She's awesome. They also have Sam Waterston and Miguel Ferrer, who both rock. It would be funny if they had the tall dude from CI (Vincent D'Onofrio) and he turned out to be a moron, since his character is some sort of genius.
My dad called me the other day and said, "You have a package...from Canada." Like that was something requiring a dun-dun-DUN! It was just the rest of Mark's present, but I thought it was weird he said it that way. I love Canada! They made You Can't Do That On Television (which we weren't supposed to watch, but did anyway) and now they make Degrassi, which I am way too old to watch, but love anyway. In fact, Shannon humors me and watches it with me and last Friday we even tried to play a Degrassi drinking game, but I think our rules were too broad because I got drunk really quickly. Anyway, Canada gave us Alan Thicke, which led to them giving us The Alan Thicke Show. They also gave us Naked News, which is thankfully completely unrelated to Alan Thicke and his show. I always enjoyed Due South and The Elephant Show was one of my favorites when I was little. I don't know why I just spent that much effort on Canada, but I hope you like Canada too.

Jury Duty

I got a summons to serve jury duty in federal court. Apparently it is different from regular jury duty because the letter says I only go one day a month for 18 months. Sounds like a hassle. I can't find anyone who has ever had that kind of jury duty. I'm just curious-I've never even had regular jury duty. I had to fill out a weird form for them, too. Anyway, so that'll be different.
My small group has apparently decided to go caroling, which is funny because only two of us are in choir and neither of us came up with that idea. I like to sing, but I totally don't do outdoors. They didn't even know how we were going to decide what to sing, so I offered to bring a hymnal so we can look at the Christmas section. I don't think I've ever actually caroled, so it should be interesting.

girly?

I haven't worn any make-up for a while because I've felt crappy for a year or two. On special occasions I put on foundation. I used to love make-up and I would wear eye shadow every day. I never understood eye liner, though. It always looked wrong on me. But the other day I hauled out my basket 'o' make-up and went through it. I have a ton of never used eye shadows and a few blushes. I love blush-it's just fun. Shannon and I went to the store and she helped me buy some eye liner and told me that I was doing it right. It still doesn't look right to me, but I think I have the hang of it. So I'm back to eye make-up. I did discover this weekend that brown eye liner just made me look like my eyes were red. So no more chestnut eye liner for me. I enjoy being a girl! Sorry, just felt like breaking into song. Also, Tuesday I got the most awesome parts of Dave and Mark's Christmas presents and now I'm all excited about that.

Christmas shopping

I'm very glad that I now have a washer and dryer in my apartment (thanks to Shannon's sister!) because Layla keeps throwing up on things. I don't mind so much when it's the carpet, but she threw up on my bed, so I had to wash the comforter and while it was drying, she totally tried to throw up on my sheets, but I put her on the floor before she could. Not cool. I do feel bad for her because it can't be fun, but I wish she wouldn't do it on my bed.
I caught part of the House marathon on USA yesterday and it just reminded me how much I wish they would give Chase more character. He didn't even make the cover of TV Guide with House, Foreman, and Cameron. It's always all about Cameron and her whining and her stupid vests, ugly shirts, and annoying bangs.
I'm feeling pretty good about Christmas. I'm about halfway there with my shopping and I know what I want for the others; it's just a matter of finding it. I got a package today and I'm excited. I love giving presents. Although I'm guessing that about December 15th, my mom will ask me if I'll buy stuff for the cousins from her. They are hard to shop for since we hardly know them anymore and they don't say much when we're around. Oh well. If I have mine taken care of, I'm less likely to spazz out when she dumps that on me.

TV and books

Since I still can't find the book I was trying to read on Sunday, I went shopping Monday and bought Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs. I want to see the movie and you guys should know how I feel about books, so I read it this week. Now I'm not so sure I want to see the movie because from the trailers I've seen, it doesn't seem like it's going to be all that true to the book. It was a pretty good book and a really fast read. But now I have nothing to read again. That's not entirely true because I have some Stephen King books, but I don't think it would be wise to read them at night because then I'll get a little creeped out and all the noises my cats make will scare me. I'm a big pansy.
I was watching television last night (shocking, I know) and saw a Sprint commercial with Ron Livingston in it. Why is Ron Livingston doing Sprint commercials? I think his show is not doing particularly well (I for one have never watched it). But still. Also, I saw a new episode of America's Next Top Model and their guest this week was Fabio. He's looking really old. He was kind of creepy and they had to act excited about working with him. Sucks for them. I also caught most of an episode of One Tree Hill and while I was not sure about what was going on, it was really funny. It may have been one of the funniest things I've seen in quite a while. I'm almost glad there was nothing else on. Almost.

Confusion

I started reading a book on Sunday and then I put it down for a few minutes and now I can't find it. I looked and looked last night, but it seems to be gone. Which is strange because my apartment is not that big. There just aren't that many places it could be. I also seem to have hit my head on something at some point on Sunday, but I can't remember what or where. All I know is there's a small, sore bump on my forehead. And I vaguely recall bumping my head, but I really can't remember where I was or what I was doing at the time. I must be losing it.

Good weekend

I didn't get to see Marie Antoinette on Friday because it didn't come out here in freaking Bowling Green! So Friday we watched Friends With Money, which was depressing. I do not recommend it. But Saturday night Shannon and I went to Nashville and saw it there. It was very colorful. I think I liked it. It made me want a cape. :) Although we were fairly certain that many of the other patrons did not know what happened to Marie and Louis because the movie ended before they lost their heads and they all seemed confused. I think that was the longest movie I've ever seen with that little dialogue. Does that make sense? There just wasn't much speaking happening. But you understand what's up and what they're thinking.

Saturday was also One Great Day, which is a thing our church does twice a year where members go out into the community in ugly orange shirts and help people. My group was working at BRASS (Barren River Area Safe Space) and we weeded (I don't do gardening) and mulched a playground area and also painted a gazebo. It was fun, but I left early so I didn't get to see the finished products. I was painting and even though we were outside, by the time I left I remembered why I'm not supposed to paint. My nose had started getting way funky and my throat hurt. Stupid allergies. But they are sooo much better than they were for the first 21 years or so of my life. Yay allergy shots and tonsil removal!! Anyway, last year only three members of our small group showed up and no shots of us made it into the slideshow at church the next morning. This year we had about 12 show up from our group! A shot of Amanda painting the gazebo made it in and I was kneeling in front of her, so the back of my head made it. Weirdly enough, my mother recognized it. I would have thought I would be the only one to recognize the back of my head. It made me strangely happy that she at least knows what I look like that much because she generally knows almost nothing about me. That was a poorly put together sentence. Anyway, my friend Jennie said my mom told her, "I know that hair!"

Sunday was our Groundbreaking for our new building, but I didn't get to go because a friend's sister was bringing me a washer and dryer at 3:30 and the thing was at 3:00. But I got a washer and dryer! And it was really cold out yesterday. But my dad said they had a pretty good turnout and it was nice.

It must be fall...

because my left eyelid is flaking again. Yay, cold weather and my accompanying skin of my eye troubles. Anyway, it must be time for another Benz to be born because it is October. My cousin had her baby on Monday (Sunday was my dad's birthday). And of course there's Mark's birthday at the beginning of October and that particular cousin and her brother have birthdays at the end of the month. My poor grandpa fell down on his face last Friday and had to go the hospital when his nose didn't stop bleeding after three hours. Apparently he broke it and is having surgery on Hallowe'en to repair it. And I realize it was very pretentious of me to spell Hallowe'en with an apostrophe, but I like it that way. Just as I like to spell flavour with a u. I think I'm going to see Marie Antoinette tonight. But I accidentally left my phone at home when I came to work after lunch, so I can't call my friend until after work. Oops. That's right, I no longer know all phone numbers because of the scourge that is cell phones. I never have to dial because all the people I call are on my speed dial. Anyway, I should get back to working.

Starting over

So, even though I already have a blog(I don't write in it much though), I'm starting this one because Dave doesn't like myspace and Rach isn't on it. So whatever. Now I have this.

This weekend was a lot of fun. The cutest family ever came to town. And Rachel, you and Dave are totally just as important to me as your fabulous kids are. Anyway, the kids are so much bigger and different everytime we see them, and Dave and Rachel have so much to tell, that I always wish anew that we lived closer.

Also, totally check out Television Without Pity on my links. They have the most awesome recaps of all the shows I watch and a lot of shows that I don't.
